Red-haired Flat-faced Crab Spider
The specific name "verrucosus", meaning "red" in Latin, draws attention to a diagnostic character of this species: the reddish colouration of the hairs of the patellae of legs I, II and IV, and the palp of the male. The white hairs on tibia IV are characteristically long, curled and densely packed. The dark moustache-shaped marking on the dorsum is particularly striking in comparison with that of the two other species of Angaeus in Singapore. Although the general colouration of most individuals ranges from dark brown to black, some specimens may be brown. Nevertheless, they can be easily identified by the characteristic red and curly white hairs on the legs.
