Asemonea tenuipes (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1869)

Iridescent Asemonea

This translucent jumping spider shows the unique eye arrangement typical of the subfamily Asemoneinae: the eyes are positioned in four rows, with the ALE positioned behind and above the AME. forming a second anterior eye row.

While the female is palely coloured with a few dark spots, the male has spectacular iridescent orange and purple scales on the abdomen and two of its spinnerets are particularly elongated and black.

HabitatUnder leaves of mangrove vegetation.
BiologyThey are typically found under green leaves. Females line their eggs in a single row.
