Salticidae Bavia

Bavia sexpunctata (Doleschall, 1859)

Six-spotted Long-bellied Jumper

The species name "sexpunctata", meaning "six-spotted" in Latin, refers to the three pairs of tufts of white setae on the male dorsum. In some individuals, there may be a fourth pair. A few tufts of white setae are arranged on the anterior end of the abdomen. There is also a dense tuft of white setae at the posterior end of the abdomen. The female’s abdomen is covered by a paired series of 5–6 dark spots.
