Cytaea oreophila Simon, 1902

Banded Jaw Jumper

The males and females may be recognised in the field by their overall greyish brown colouration with some diffuse darker bands on the carapace and abdomen, a band of white hairs around the margin of the carapace and below the anterior eye row.

Male C. oreophila have a characteristic black band across their chelicerae.

BiologyThe egg sac is a thin disk affixed to the underside of a leaf and guarded by the mother.
