Greater Pond Wolf Spider
This species is closely related to "Pardosa" pseudoannulata. both sharing the general configuration of copulatory organs characteristic of the genus Draposa. Like P. pseudoannulata, this species lives near water and can run rapidly over it, taking advantage of the water’s surface tension. Of the two, this species is much less common.
This species may be distinguished from P. pseudoannulata by having a longer abdomen and a different dorsal pattern, with four to five broken transverse lines of whitish hairs. The legs are more prominently banded with white hairs, especially on the femora of the females. There are also subtle differences in the female carapace patterns. The male can be distinguished from P. pseudoannulata only be studying its palps.
