Spiny Hammock Spider
This is a tiny, darkly purplish spider easily recognised by its prominent body and leg spines. The spines are densely and evenly arranged on the abdomen, both dorsally and ventrally. Each abdominal spine is mounted on a small, protruding stub. The abdomen tapers posteriorly to the spinnerets which are mounted within a sclerotised ring. The legs are pale on at least some of their segments. The tibiae and metatarsi are armed with long and upright dorsal spines. These dorsal leg spines are without the spine-supporting stubs so evident on the abdomen.
