Cappuccino Mintonia
This species was described in 1984 from a male specimen collected by H.N. Ridley, one of the former Directors of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The species name "protuberans" refers to a prong protruding from the base of the embolus, visible only under a microscope. Nevertheless, this species is easily recognised by the many white lines and bands on the dark brown body and legs respectively, like the milk decorations over a cup of cappuccino. The femora have patches or stripes of scales that produce a turquoise sheen when seen from a certain direction.
