Mysmenidae Mosu

Mosu sp. "Garlic Minute"

Garlic Minute Clasping Weaver

In both sexes, the abdomen is shaped like a clove of garlic, being globular in front and pointed posteriorly. Underneath the tip of the abdominal extension is a butter-cream coloured dot. The sclerotised spots found on the femora of female Microdipoena and Mysmena (below) are absent in this species.

The female is recognised by its entirely black carapace. The male has a pair of large and inflated palps. but this Mosu male is instantly distinguishable by its bi-coloured, somewhat conical (in side view) cephalothorax which has a pair of protruding ocular tubercles on its pinnacle.
