Ambon Rock Weaver
This is a medium-sized brown spider with a black or darkly coloured cephalic region. The females show the characteristics of the family mentioned in the previous page. The males share the general appearance of the females, except that they possess long, forward-pointing bristles curved at their ends, on the prolateral surfaces of the femora, patellae, tibiae, and metatarsi of legs I and II.
. This is the first Singapore record of this species and family.

Habitat | Sheltered, dry, dark places around built-up environment, such as underneath expressway flyovers. |
Biology | Weaves an irregular sheet web, with dry but entangling cribellate silk, extending from a retreat deep inside a crevice, under a stone or over loose soil particles, or under bark. The woolly cribellate silk strands are best observed in freshly woven webs. Their prey includes small black beetles. |
