Glossy Ground Jumper
Like the related Langona. jumpers of the genus Phlegra are characterised by their ground-dwelling habits, and a somewhat elongated cephalothorax (which is slightly longer than the abdomen). It is widespread in temperate countries and in Africa, but only a few are known in Southeast Asia.
The male featured here has a glossy black carapace with a pair of vague longitudinal parallel lines made of sparse hairs. The dorsum is covered by iridescent scales, with a single incomplete longitudinal median stripe. The abdominal margin is surrounded by white hairs. The palps are also adorned with white hairs.
