Ninja Comb-footed Spider
With its characteristic black carapace and a black anterior half of the dorsum, the female calls to mind a ninja, the black-masked and black-clad swordsman in feudal Japan engaged in surreptitious operations such as infilitration and assassination.
The carapace of the male is modified in the area around the AME, projecting forward like a bracket. The carapace is glossy, with a black wedge-shaped area pointing to the fovea (a shallow pit at the centre of the carapace).
