Phrurolithidae Plynnon

Plynnon sp. "Cream-legged Rimmed"

Cream-legged Rimmed Spider

Members of the genus Plynnon may be recognised in the field by their rebordered carapace and relatively pale-coloured legs, with partly white tibiae I.

Plynnon are similar to members of several other families in Singapore. but closest to Orthobula. Both are small (around 3 mm) and have similar genitalia. Apart from having a characteristic rim around its margin, the Plynnon carapace is lower and flatter than that of Orthobula. Plynnon also has a more elongated body.

While Plynnon and Orthobula are similar in having almost no spines on legs III and IV, Plynnon differs from Orthobula by having strong ventral spines on the tibiae and metatarsi of legs I and II. Compared with Orthobula, the PME are smaller and more widely separated.
