Blue-Spotted Sac Spider
Pteroneta spiders are characterised by a long fringe of feathery hairs on the tarsi of their exceptionally elongated legs II. The gap between the PME is greater than that between the AME. They may be further recognised by the blue blotches (not shown here) on the ventral side of the abdomen, and an abrupt narrowing of abdomen just before the spinnerets. All Pteroneta males have elongated chelicerae, measuring from half to almost thrice the length of the cephalothorax.
The species P. tertia differs from other Pteroneta by the presence of 2–6 stout spines on the dorsal tip of the elongated chelicerae of the males.
