Rear-pocketed Daddy-long-legs
With its small size and six eyes arranged in two groups of three, spiders of the genus Spermophora resemble those of Belisana. Spermophora can be distinguished from Belisana only through a study of the microscopic details of their genitalia, such as the presence of paired or unpaired pockets at the rear of the female copulatory organ (absent in Belisana). Spermophora also resemble Ninetis. but Spermophora have much longer legs than Ninetis, and have only six eyes. (All Ninetis species have eight).
Like some Belisana and Ninetis, the male of the Spermophora featured here has relatively long tusks on the chelicerae. It is probably new to science.
