Golden False Widow
The female may be distinguished from its relative in Singapore by its greater size (9 mm versus 3–4 mm), an abdomen with a dull golden background colour, three paired black spots on the dorsum and an irregularly shaped black patch at the posterior end. The femora appear rough and corrugated, being densely covered by minute conical sockets each bearing a long and "appressed" (close to the surface, not erect) bristle. It is closely related to, if not identical with, Steatoda nigrimaculata Zhang, Chen & Zhu, 2001, a species described from the southern and sub-tropical province of Guizhou in China.
