Pholcidae Tissahamia

Tissahamia bukittimah (Huber, 2016)

Bukit Timah Forest Daddy-long-legs

This six-eyed pholcid was named after Bukit Timah as the first described specimens were collected at the Dairy Farm Nature Park, one of the buffer parks fringing the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

In both sexes, the carapace has a forward-pointing V marking. In the female, the clypeus and ocular area between the two eye triads are darkened. Against this background, there is black pigmentation around the vestigial AME area (non-functional eye spots without lenses).

The male is characterised by having the two triads on stalks. an elongated abdomen with a posterior end that is slightly pointed or elevated dorsally, and other features on the chelicerae and male palps visible only under a microscope.
