Spotted Ant-eater
The name "maculosa" means "spotted" or "mottled" in Latin, and refers to the many pale yellowish spots on the dorsum of the male. With the exception of these spots, the abdomen of the male and female is black. The carapace in Yaginumena is glossy black and normal in shape, unlike the related Phycosoma whose highly modified (box-like) cephalothorax is typically translucent with a black pattern.
