Salticidae Chrysilla

Chrysilla lauta Thorell, 1887

Spectacular Iridescent Jumper

Unlike C. delicata. this species shows distinct sexual dimorphism that is seen in most typical Chrysilla. In this species, the males are spectacularly coloured with iridescent cyan and bluish bands on a crimson carapace. The elongated abdomen and legs I (especially femora I) are covered with metallic blue and purple scales. Legs I are characteristically longer and stouter than other legs. The distal (far) ends of tibiae I are each girdled by a ring of white hairs.

The female has a metallic sky-blue carapace with a pair of conspicuous red fringes. It has a stouter abdomen, covered with red, black and metallic blue scales.
