Smooth Spotted Sac Spider
Belonging to the same Clubiona species group as those in the previous page, this species shares with them a spotted pattern of the abdomen. The name "melanosticta" is derived from the Greek words for "black" and "spots". The thick brush of hairs on the metatarsi I that is one of the diagnostic features of females in this species group is clearly visible in the photograph on the right. A similar brush also exists on tarsi I of this species. The spinnerets are brownish black.
Like Clubiona sp. F. the chelicerae are jet-black. However, unlike Clubiona sp. F, the abdominal spots are less dense. The area immediately behind the posterior eyes is not covered by white hairs.
