Camel Goblin Spider
In both sexes, the anterior two-thirds of the carapace is dome-shaped (like a camel’s hump, brown arrows). The domed roof appears particularly glossy, in stark contrast with the finely grooved surfaces ot the sides of the carapace. The domed roof ends abruptly on a tranverse ridge and slopes steeply towards the posterior margin. The ridge is furnished with two pairs of small denticles. This distinguishes the species from G. insomnia which has only a pair of larger denticles on the ridge of a flatter carapace roof.
This species was described in 1893 by the French arachnologist Eugène Simon who personally collected a female specimen in Singapore.
