Pancorius thorelli (Simon, 1899)

White-capped Big-headed Jumper

This Pancorius has an unmistakable patch of white hairs, like a little skull cap, on its carapace. Legs I and II are lined with thick brushes of hairs and heavy spines. Its femora are typically pale yellow.

Length♀ 9–10 mm; ♂ 8–10 mm.
HabitatFoliage in secondary forests.
BiologyEggs are laid within a rolled leaf shelter, covered by a thick layer of silk. The mother remains in the shelter guarding the egg sac until the spiderlings hatch.
