Thomisidae Runcinia

Runcinia sp. "Sharp-Tailed"

Sharp-Tailed Runcinia

This species is the most common of the four Runcinia species in Singapore. It differs from the remaining three species by having a pair of less distinct lateral bands on the carapace. The female abdomen is shorter than that of R. insecta. and may be as long as, if not longer than, that of R. acuminata. The anterior leading edge of the abdomen in both sexes is straight, as though cut across by a knife. Compared to R. acuminata, the posterior tip of the abdomen is more pointed and upturned, the pointed tip being most clearly seen in side-view.
