Porcupine Goblin Spider
This bizarre-looking goblin spider is one of the 22 species of spiders collected in Singapore by the French arachnologist Eugène Simon and described by him in the 19th century. The Latin name "hystrix" means porcupine and refers to its unmistakable spiky appearance. Two pairs of horns project from the posterior half of the carapace of both males and females. The edges of the carapace are armed with five pairs of smaller, thorn-like spikes.
