Four-hump Long-jawed Orb Weaver
This species is more common than Dolichognatha sp. A. It is characterised by two pairs of dorsal abdominal humps.
Length | ♀ 3 mm; ♂ 2–3 mm. |
Habitat | Sheltered spaces, often within buttress roots, in primary and secondary forests, also in mangroves and abandoned plantations. |
Biology | The spider builds a delicate and finely meshed horizontal orb web. Several individuals may occupy the same sheltered space, each on a web about 10 cm above the other. The detritus-covered egg sac is suspended slightly below the web, at its edge. The well-camouflaged mother normally clings to the side or bottom of the egg sac. |
