Triangular Face Crab Spider
Like other Thomisus, this rare and attractive species has a pair of "horns" around the lateral eyes. However, while the lateral eyes of other Thomisus are mounted on prominent and laterally projecting conical structures (horns"), the eyes of this species are situated around a pair of much reduced cones. The species is therefore placed in the genus Thomisus only on a provisional basis, until its affinity with other Thomisus can be clarified through further research.
Unlike other Thomisus, all the eyes are close to one another, forming a compact group within a prominent black triangular frame. The dorsum is dominated by a bold chocolate-coloured and wing-shaped pattern dotted with fine and pale-coloured tubercles. The ground colour may range from pale yellow (as in the flesh of a pear) to bright yellow (as in the flesh of a mango).
