Tetragnathidae Tylorida

Tylorida sp. "Brown-bellied"

Brown-bellied Golden Spider

This is a rare species with a single specimen collected from a remnant patch of primary forest in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve in Singapore. Like T. striata, the type species of the genus, its abdomen is glittering with golden patches, but the abdomen is devoid of any elevation, and is more elongated and cylindrical than that of T. striata. The abdomen has a black marking towards the posterior. Below, almost joined onto this marking and at the very end, are two black spots. Although some individuals of Tylorida sp. B have similar markings, Tylorida sp. A differs from Tylorida sp. B by its brown venter (whereas the venter of Tylorida sp. B is yellowish).
