Tetragnathidae Tetragnatha

Tetragnatha chauliodus (Thorell, 1890)

Skinny Big-jawed Spider

One of the larger species of Tetragnatha found in Singapore, it can be readily distinguished in the field by a long abdomen (more than three times the carapace length) and slender carapace. The chelicerae of females are shorter compared to other species of Tetragnatha featured in this book. In both sexes, the palely coloured abdomen is decorated with five to six pairs of short streaks in a longitudinal and parallel formation.
