Spectacular Fighting Spider
The male can be distinguished from T. bhamoensis by the numerous shiny and vibrantly blue setae that adorn the legs, palps, and body. These setae are typically more brilliant than those in T. bhamoensis. The male also has a series of dorsal spines. not found in T. bhamoensis, on tibiae I. In both sexes, the carapace is black on the ocular area, fringed by metallic blue scales, while the posterior half of the carapace is reddish-brown. (In T. bhamoensis, the entire carapace surface is black, except those areas covered by metallic scales.) In Singapore, this species is rare and known from only a single male specimen collected on Pulau Ubin. It is relatively common in peninsular Malaysia.
